Minneapolis Biomass Exchange announces Doug Cameron and Rajesh Aggarwal as directors

Minneapolis Biomass Exchange Doug Cameron Rajesh AggarwalMinneapolis-Biomass Exchange (MBioEX) recently announced the addition of Doug Cameron and Rajesh Aggarwal to the board of directors.

MBioEX is a Minneapolis-based software startup which has developed an online exchange for animal bedding, livestock feed, renewable energy, and the biopharma markets. Biomass feedstocks such as corn cobs/stover, dedicated energy crops, hays/alfalfa, wheat straw and wood chips/residues can be sold through MBioEX’s proprietary platform.

“The MBioEX mission is three fold,” says CEO Kevin Triemstra, “To provide a better market opportunity for buyers and sellers, to improve efficiencies by linking biomass supply chain harvesters and transporters to buyers and sellers and to increase knowledge and reduce party risk through leading-edge technology.”

The addition of Doug Cameron comes on the heels of a two year stint with Piper Jaffray, where he served as chief science officer and managing director.  In early July, it was reported that he would be leaving Piper to start Alberti Advisors, a venture advisory firm with business, science and engineering expertise in clean technology and sustainable agriculture.  From 2006-2008, Doug was chief scientific officer at Khosla Ventures, a premier Silicon Valley-based cleantech venture capital firm.

Rajesh Aggarwal is currently the US Bancorp Professor in Financial Markets and Institutions at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. His research has been published in top finance, economics, and law journals, such as the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Finance, and the Journal of Financial Economics. Rajesh previously served as associate professor at the University of Virginia, University of Michigan, Oxford University, and Dartmouth College.

“Doug and Raj bring expertise that will help MBioEX become the preeminent organization for biomass exchange.  We’re thrilled to have on board such great visionaries with strong academic backgrounds, top-shelf integrity and the energy necessary to help take the company to the next level.” – Kevin Triemstra, CEO, Minneapolis Biomass Exchange.

Minneapolis Biomass Exchange recently joined the growing list of 30+ businesses already qualified for this years Angel Investment Tax Credit.
