Imation has focus restored

“…For the past several years under the previous regime, Imation tried to remake itself from solely a maker of staid products such as magnetic tape and optical discs into a ‘brand and product management company’ that oversees and develops fun consumer electronics products under the Memorex, TDK and XtremeMac brands.Investors were unimpressed, however, and the stock has been stagnant since plunging with the rest of the market two years ago.

Imation no longer calls itself a ‘brand and product management company.’ “We are a technology company,” Lucas said flatly in a recent interview as his company readied itself for the Vegas conventions.”
