Reverse-coupon startup rolling out

“Tech startup Mashalot, which aims to reverse the Groupon business model by letting consumers come up with their own deals and pitch them to retailers, launched its service on Friday as it prepares for a nationwide rollout next spring.

John Marino, owner of social-media consulting firm RSP Marketing, and Joe Serrano, an entrepreneur who founded and later sold “green” dry cleaning business Vantagio, co-founded Mashalot earlier this year. The Mashalot service is built into a Facebook application, which consumers must “like” before using. Once they join, people can propose their own “mashes” — specific discounts on products or services, such as 30 percent off a sandwich at a restaurant.”
