FanbrowserBeta Byte is a series sponsored by LaunchRock for that early stage tech found somewhere between idea and traction. Equally exciting as it is raw. Are you in this phase?

What is the name of the company and/or product?

Company: Ragtag Media, LLC; product: Fanbrowser.com

What problem does this solve?

In short, Fanbrowser combines a internet directory, social networking, topical news feeds and a simulated browser into one website via side tab overlays “tying the web together”.

The internet being a rich source of multimedia content on virtually any topic is a great resource; however, with so much information it’s difficult to manage what’s relevant to the users needs and wants, and the current nature of the web separates fans into many places. Fanbrowser creates an environment for fans of virtually any topic to exchange or share information relevant to each topic while keeping the fans in one central location allowing easy social interaction and quick access the relevant websites/content to that topic.

What is the full launch/release date planned?

We plan a full launch September 2012

Who is on the team?

Jerrett Praske: Co-Founder

What is the specific technology or combination of technologies, framework, languages, etc. that makes this thing run? Is there any IP?

Fanbrowser uses PHP, Jquery extruders for technologies. The framework and content within the extruders is what makes Fanbrowser completely one of a kind. All code IP is owned by Ragtag Media. With exceptions to applications embedded from outside sources such as youtube, twitter, facebook, google etc…

Is there a revenue model?

Fanbrowser revenue stream is based on featuring at minimum 4 websites within the bookmarks and topics message board per topic for a monthly fee, projected at $4.95 per month per featured site. Currently Fanbrowser has 800,000 topics. We also intend to use google adsense and share revenue with users based on their impact within Fanbrowser topics.

Also, with content specific focus. Fanbrowser is one of the best tools available that bridges the Social Networking market to the Search and End of point sales. According to a recent report from Forrester Research: “Online retail spending will explode from $16.9 billion in 2009 to $33.3 billion in 2015, with digital sales now accounting for 7% of all retail spending,” So the market is still in a growth mode with huge potential for companies that can bring products to consumers in a more focused way and have fun at the same time and that’s what Fanbrowser accomplishes.

How big is the market?

Fanbrowser currently has 4 million website links. Facebook alone has 900 million plus users. So people are very familiar with the social interaction aspect of Fanbrowser and how that part functions.

Google: 34,000 searches per second (2 million per minute; 121 million per hour; 3 billion per day; 88 billion per month, figures rounded)

Yahoo: 3,200 searches per second (194,000 per minute; 12 million per hour; 280 million per day; 8.4 billion per month, figures rounded)

Bing: 927 searches per second (56,000 per minute; 3 million per hour; 80 million per day; 2.4 billion per month, figures rounded)

So with over a Billion people chatting online and networking as well as Billions of searches going on everyday, one can see that a platform the “ties these together” search and social networking can be well positioned to be a market leader.
