Minnesota startup DoDrinks beat out six regional startup finalists to take first place in the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) regional competition in Chicago. DoDrinks is a technology-based promotional company that enables people to use simple, social apps to send a drink voucher and/or pick up a tab for their friends.
BreAnna Fisher, founder of DoDrinks, is a student in the University of St. Thomas entrepreneurship program. She was the only student from Minnesota nominated for the 2012 competition. “Winning this competition is so exciting for our team,” said BreAnna, “and yet another milestone as we prove our business model and, more importantly, understand how we drive real value to our consumers.”
By winning the regionals, BreAnna and team will now move on to compete in the Global Finals, an international competition at the New York Stock Exchange where up to 15 teams from as far away as Sweden, Malaysia and Mexico will be competing for $100,000 cash.
