“Restaurant manager Patrick Cattoor once kept track of his employees’ schedules using an Excel spreadsheet, which he printed out and put on the wall for the workers to consult. This was awkward for all concerned. The employees had to keep calling in for shift updates, and Cattoor made lots of spreadsheet errors.
“I’d miss a shift or not see someone’s availability the correct way,” said Cattoor, who operates a My Burger eatery in Minneapolis. Now he uses a service called When I Work, which lets him manage his 30 or so employees with a colorful, highly responsive Web interface designed for this kind of chore.”
