Two West Coast startups were named winners of the “Think Big Challenge” during the Mayo Clinic’s Transform 2015 conference in Rochester.
San Francisco-based Care At Hand uses analytics to predict hospitalization risk using non-medical staff & Wellpepper from Seattle makes a mobile app to improve patient adherence to home treatment programs.
The winners were chosen from a set of six finalists announced earlier this month and each will receive $50k cash + “guidance from Mayo experts” as part of their accomplishment.
The Think Big Challenge was launched in July by Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation, Mayo Clinic Ventures and AVIA to identify entrepreneurs with innovative ideas to transform the future of health and health care. Over 132 unique applicants from across the US put their hat in the ring, 30+ of those were from their own backyard — although not a single local company advanced.
