“MINNEAPOLIS – Oct. 12, 2015 – Anser Innovation today announced the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued a notice of allowance for its first patent on the Audiovisual Medication Management System, a pioneering technology that will enable caregivers to remotely dispense medications to their dependents and confirm medication compliance via two-way audio/visual connection with a smartphone, tablet or PC.”

Anser Innovation is a Burnsville-based technology company with a vision to connect the disconnected, focusing on market segments where remote interactivity is currently difficult or impossible. The Audiovisual Medication Management System is the company’s second product platform. Its PetChatz® product successfully launched in Nov. 2014 featuring a Greet & Treat® videophone that allows pet parents to interact with their pet from anywhere. With PetChatz, owners can see, hear, speak to, provide a comforting scent and give their pet a treat over the web.

According to Anser, the Audiovisual Medication Management System – currently in development – will meet a growing demand for new ways and channels for providing treatment to the aging adult population.

“The aging Boomer population is both technologically savvy and fiercely independent,” said Lisa Lavin, CEO of Anser Innovation. “More seniors will be living alone, thereby increasing incidences of medication errors. The Audiovisual Medication Management System can greatly mitigate such incidences.”

“A caregiver can have an audiovisual interaction and dispense pre-loaded solid form medications to their dependent – from anywhere, at any time,” Lavin explained. “In addition, the caregiver can watch their dependent consume the medication, giving the caregiver peace of mind knowing that their dependent is taking the right medication at the right time. With this patent in hand, we look forward to bringing this transformative technology to market.”

Anser received notice of allowance of the patent with the assistance of instructors and students from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul.
