Burnsville Cybersecurity Startup Cloudcover Raises $515k

Burnsville-based CloudCover has raised $515k of a $1m equity round, according to this SEC disclosure.

“CloudCover is focused on delivering the world first cyber-security and risk transfer system to underwrite the property and liability risks of egress data. Our risk transfer methodology is known as the CloudCover Protocol. The underlying risk transfer product is known as CloudCover Data Insurance (CDI) which entails deep packet risk scoring of egress data and thereby provides proactive data governance and cyber-insured security real-time.”

Longtime readers may recognize the name from back in 2011, when CloudCover signaled intentions of raising a $20m round (none reported), followed by ~$3m of a $7m round in 2013.  Founder Stephen Cardot declined to comment at the time; we’ll update this article in the event of material development.
