Aiming to become the national entrepreneurial hub for sports tech activity, “The Pitch brings together pioneering sports businesses and entrepreneurs in a unique collaborative coworking environment. Members foster and accelerate innovation through the collision of ideas and the rapid development of the sports tech ecosystem. ”
Officially opening next month on July 12, Teke O’Reilly, formerly of COCO, has been recruited as Executive Director to spearhead the day-to-day operations at The Pitch, where 24/7/365 membership is available for between $95 – $500/month.
Rising sports tech startup Player’s Health will soon be anchored there, as will others TBA, considering there’s room for up to 80 people.
O’Reilly says a regular schedule of sports themed events is part of the plan, as is the development of a mentor network that (naturally) includes Sport Ngin cofounders Carson Kipfer and Justin Kaufenberg, along with Rob Phythian formerly SportsData/Sportradar, Jeff Hinck, general partner at Rally Ventures, investor Marc Parrish, and Jeff Griffing — EVP at Taylor Corp.
“We know that the sports technology market will continue to grow in Minneapolis. Helping to get this off the ground, and providing companies with proven expertise is the next step in making Minnesota a destination for smart, eager entrepreneurs,” says Hinck.
We recently published a comprehensive guide to coworking across Minnesota, and consider the addition of The Pitch to this roster fresh with a targeted focus, certainly one of a kind. It’s a wise maneuver for Sport Ngin — already a tech partner to many, and now, with additional resources to increase the probability of success for others within their sphere of influence.
