Screen Shot 2016-06-22 at 9.30.49 AM“ST. PAUL, Minn., June 22, 2016 — Livio Health Group, a startup company that provides mobile, on-site urgent and primary care to facilities and residences, announced today that it closed an early-stage funding round with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (Blue Cross).”

“The opportunity to collaborate with Blue Cross allows us to expand our footprint and reach those who are most in need of health care services,” said Mike Nathan, founder and CEO of Livio Health Group. “We know more frequent, lighter, routine medical care reduces complications and long-term costs, which is why we’re making access easier – by setting up on-site clinics in non-traditional settings to serve multiple patients – so they have a better quality of life.”

Nathan founded Livio Health Group in 2015 after a frustrating health care experience when he realized too many people lacked access to primary care services and appropriate urgent care. Designed to eliminate barriers to health care access and increase patient efficiency, all while driving down the cost of care, Livio Health Group continues to grow with a number of new contracts set to take effect in 2016.

“Blue Cross is proud to invest in an industry pioneer such as Livio Health Group whose long-term vision aligns with our own mission of making a healthy difference in people’s lives,” said John Uribe, vice president of business development at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. “Livio Health Group has already demonstrated its innovative thinking and results-oriented approach as a key partner in our provider network. As Minnesota’s largest health plan, we are committed to investing in emerging business models that can positively impact the health outcomes for thousands of people.”

“Our goal is to make health care accessible, easier and more effective,” said Jim Olson, president of Livio Health Group. “This patient-focused care model achieves that by providing the medically underserved with faster patient care, which often reduces or eliminates ER and hospital visits, and ultimately leads to better patient outcomes.”
