“The Akamai State of the Internet report comes out quarterly; Q1 2012 was recently released…No improvement seen in Minnesota’s ranking [Q1] because we didn’t make one of the Top Ten lists of Minnesota states. (Akamai only shows top 10 states.) We were called out as one of the few states that has seen slower growth than most.”

“The latest Akamai report on global broadband speeds and rankings is out – based on Q4 2011 research. The news isn’t great for the US, it’s even worse for Minnesota.

…The report looks at global ranking and ranking by geography. Minnesota is not listed – not once. In the past we have occasionally ranked. Minnesota Broadband buffs will know that part of the Minnesota Broadband Bill was an aspiration to be a national and world broadband leader.”

“…Akamai does not give an exhaustive list of state rankings, only the highlights, so it’s nice when Minnesota makes the list (#10). Also it means a step closer to the Minnesota broadband goal to be one of the top five states in terms of broadband speed – if you want to look at averaged speed measured.

Also, St. Paul made the list (#7) of Average Measured Connection Speed, Top United States Cities by Speed.”
