“A luxury homebuilder is planning to construct a $30 million, 36,311-square-foot data center in Minnetonka. And surprise, it’s going to look like a mansion.
The Minnetonka Planning Commission on Thursday will meet to review plans from Excelsior-based Keith Waters & Associates to build a data center for FiberPop Solutions, an Owatonna-based startup that says it wants to create 10 community-based data centers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Missouri.”

“Compellent Technologies, Inc.(NYSE: CML) said Thursday that it’s adopted a shareholders rights plan — commonly called a “poison pill” — that makes it difficult to for any entity other than Dell Inc. to acquire it.
Eden Prairie-based Compellent, which makes systems to manage data-storage tasks, said the measure was included in its merger agreement with Dell. The Dell-Compellent deal, announced Monday, is valued at $960 million.”

“Lawson Software Inc. plans to cut 150 to 200 positions, about 5 percent of its workforce, as it seeks to retool its business amid a changing market for enterprise software.
St. Paul-based Lawson (Nasdaq: LWSN) said the restructuring involves workers connected to its M3 Enterprise Management System, which has operations in Europe, the United States and the Philippines. It has a total workforce of about 3,700.”

“Navarre Corp. is seeking to sell its Funimation Entertainment subsidiary, which distributes Japanese anime cartoons in the United States.
New Hope-based Navarre (Nasdaq: NAVR) said Thursday that it’s engaged investment bank Houlihan Lokey to assist it in structuring and negotiating a potential transaction for the sale of Funimation.”

“Park Nicollet Health Services may be located in the Twin Cities’ west metro. But its health professionals will soon be diagnosing conditions for patients across the state, thanks to a local startup’s Web-based software.
Starting May 1, the St. Louis Park-based hospital and clinics chain is engaging in a one-year pilot program involving technology created by Zipnosis, a Minneapolis-based company headed by one of the co-founders of what is now CVS Caremark Corp.’s MinuteClinic.”

“Target Corp. on Wednesday said its stores will carry Amazon.com’s Kindle e-reader, the first time Amazon has sold the device outside its website.
Target (NYSE: TGT) will sell Kindles at its flagship downtown Minneapolis store and 102 South Florida stores beginning this Sunday. The Kindle will be rolled out to more Target stores later this year.”
