Job Description

Sezzle is an early-stage fintech startup based in Minneapolis whose mission is to financially empower the next generation. Only one in three millennials owns a credit card, and the vast majority of millennials possess a subprime credit score or no score at all. To address these problems, we have built an alternative payment platform that increases purchasing power for consumers by offering interest-free installment plans at online stores. Allowing consumers to pay for purchases over time has shown to increase sales and basket sizes for merchants, and we pay our merchant partners upfront, eliminating the risk of fraud or non-payment.

Since launching this alternative credit platform in August 2016, we have seen explosive growth and we are interested in hiring a Business Development Executive to help us accelerate our growth even more.

Job Description:

The Business Development Executive will be responsible for sourcing potential customers and nurturing them through the sales cycle. This person will initially be a “hunter,” tasked primarily with attracting and closing merchant customers. This will include cold calling, cold emailing, conducting phone and in-person meetings, and attending events and conferences. However, because Sezzle is so young, there is a great deal of opportunity for the role to grow with the company.

Our ideal candidate is someone who has experience selling payment solutions to eCommerce retailers, but we encourage people with other relevant sales experience to apply.

Other qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • At least 2 years of sales experience, preferably in payments, software, and/or retail.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of alternative payments market is a plus.
  • Proficient in Google Apps.
  • Proficiency in and Pardot is a plus.
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
  • Self-motivated.

This is a full-time position based out of our Minneapolis, MN office. Some travel is expected.
