Position Description - Senior Software Engineer

Recuro is hiring a senior software engineer to help create the future of digital care. We are tackling some of the biggest challenges in healthcare, and this role is an opportunity to play a key role in how we approach them.

Recuro is building an engineering culture that values nimble problem solving, mutual support, relentless learning, generous teaching, and accountable ownership. We have open opportunities in all areas of the product development lifecycle, including front-end and back-end web, native mobile, and DevOps.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Writing intuitive, clean user interfaces for web and native mobile applications.
  • Enabling patients to take charge of their data and develop unified patient records across health systems.
  • Using natural language understanding to better assess patient needs and help physicians make better decisions.
  • Optimizing user experiences to reduce clinical inefficiency and patient frustration.
  • Leveraging the latest machine learning and statistical techniques to surface clinical insights from genetic, demographic, and patient historical data.
  • Reducing data friction and increasing clinical accuracy by making systems interoperable.

What we’re looking for:

  • Growth mindset: You believe that you can learn to solve just about any problem, and welcome unseen puzzles.
  • Collaborative spirit: You want to be part of a team that’s building things together, and understand that communication is as valuable to engineering as coding.
  • Independent resilience: You are comfortable with the discomfort of spending a long time looking at a hard problem, and are ready to celebrate when you solve it.
  • Language agnosticism: We aim to use the best technology for the task at hand, and our ecosystem includes Javascript, Python, FHIR, and Clojure among others. You accept the risk of becoming multilingual.

Desirable previous experiences include:

  • Strong understanding of web and mobile technologies, and how they communicate.
  • Experience writing automated tests at any layer, but especially integration or e2e testing.
  • Working knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as classical algorithms, complexity theory, and common data structures. We welcome self-taught people and bootcamp grads, though we encourage ongoing learning of theory.
  • 4+ years of professional software development experience.

Bonus if:

  • You have familiarity or previous experience with the unique challenges of healthcare and health technology.
  • You have experience with non-relational data, document databases, or functional programming.
  • You have experience with developing mobile applications, either directly or through abstractions like React Native or Flutter.
  • You have experience with machine learning, artificial intelligence, or DevOps.
  • You have worked at a startup.
  • You have a side project or hobby that you can’t shut up about.

Please note, candidates are subject to verification of their employment authorization status to work in the United States, review of references and proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
