Job Title: Community Hub Manager

Reports To: Managing Director

Position Type: Part-time

Positions Available: 2

Duration: September 13-24, 2021

Pay: $25 per hour

Hours: Approx. 40 per week

Overview

As a Community Hub Manager, you will manage one of the two Twin Cities Startup Week Community Hubs (either the Minneapolis or St. Paul location) and ensure that all events and activities scheduled at the hub run smoothly. You will also help the TCSW Volunteer Coordinator with the coordination and implementation of volunteers at the Community Hub. You will take direction from the Managing Director and collaborate with the entire BETA team. The TCSW Community Hubs are the physical manifestation of the week, and your role will be to ensure it operates smoothly and is a fun and lively community space.

BETA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is “helping Minnesota tech founders succeed.” To fulfill this mission, BETA runs a series of founder-first programs and Twin Cities Startup Week. Both properties have experienced dramatic growth over the past five years, and now require the next generation of team members to ensure their continued success.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure events happen on time and event space in clean, organized, and prepared for each day’s activities.
  • Greet and assist speakers/session leaders with their events and activities at the hub. 
  • Ensure speakers/session leaders are present and prepared for their sessions; keep sessions moving according to timetable.
  • Assist Volunteer Coordinator in ensuring volunteers are present, roles are filled, and all tasks are completed as necessary.
  • Support and engage with attendees and all who visit the Community Hubs during TCSW. 
  • Maintain a fun atmosphere and build excitement around hub activities and events.
  • Assist in collecting feedback and responding to questions and concerns as they arise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong follow up and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and dynamic approach to site supervision.
  • Willingness to interact with all types of speakers and attendees.
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed, which may include weekends and evenings.

Experiences: Required 

  • Experience managing office or event space and/or coordinating volunteers or events.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience interacting with multiple points of contact simultaneously.

Experiences: Nice To Have 

  • Event management experience.
