AT&T’s bid to build 350-foot cellphone tower near Voyageurs National Park is rejected

“MINNEAPOLIS – AT&T’s request to build a 350-foot cellphone tower near Voyageurs National Park has been rejected in the second clash this month over its efforts to erect a cell tower on the edge of a major natural area in northern Minnesota.

The Koochiching County Board voted this week to accept its planning commission’s recommendation against the tower, which AT&T Mobility LLC had hoped to erect about 3 1/2 miles south of the park boundary near International Falls. County commissioners stressed they were willing to work with the company to identify other possible sites, but AT&T representatives told them they had vetted all their options and that this was the most viable, said county administration director Teresa Jaksa on Friday.”
