The vast majority of 8thBridge’s employee base will continue working from downtown Minneapolis headquarters and a handful will be operating out west alongside new hire Martin Wesley, who came on board last week as VP of Sales and Marketing. The expansion was alluded to during an earlier interview, motivated by the ‘desire to be closer to partners’ like Facebook, the platform which 8thBridge’s technology runs on.
Gerten declined to comment specifically on the exact number of current employees, citing competitive reasons, but the number is likely between 25 – 50. He did, however, mention New York and London satellites as part of the long term vision.
Wesley (right), is responsible for all sales, marketing and business development initiatives in the fast growing venture backed startup. Prior to joining 8thBridge, Wesley served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Service at globally recognized marketing platform Involver. Among Wesley’s 18 years of Internet achievements, he founded marketing-intelligence firm, BlackFoot Inc., which he sold to MediaBank in 2008.
“We’re very excited to be working with Martin, he has a great track record of success with global agencies and Internet media companies,” Gerten said. The addition follows another key recruit, Jon Kubo, who became Chief Product Officer in October.
Target, 20th Century Fox, EA, and Oscar de la Renta are among the newer clients that 8thBridge has been engaging with as of late — each conducting their own unique social campaigns via Facebook with “great success”, Gerten says. Last month, 8thBridge partnered with Delta on group travel app ‘Away we Go’.
Looking ahead, Gerten anticipates a big push in 2012 to build sophisticated social shopping experiences off Facebook by leveraging the much anticipated Open Graph. And they’re well positioned for the launch, considering 8thBridge engineers have been working intimately with Facebook’s team over the past 6+ months.
