What problem does this solve?
K5 Connect allows children under the age of 13 to gain an early understanding of social media in a safe, education-focused setting. Whereas open networks are susceptible to bullies and predators, K5 Connect is members-only, with logins provided and controlled by schools. It is accessible only to students and teachers.

Prototyping this fall, with a full launch planned for the 2013 school year.

No.e have a web programmer that just signed on with us, and he is doing preliminary research.
Is there a revenue model? How big is the market?
There are over 67,000 elementary schools in the US alone. Schools will pay a sign-up fee to use the service, and additional revenue could be gained through targeted ads, cooperation from hometown sponsors and federal grants.
What is your greatest strength?
Right now its our passion. We’re not just doing this as a project; we eat, breathe and sleep this company. Additionally, the heavy emphasis on security sets this site apart from its competitors.
What is your biggest weakness?
The founders’ lack of knowledge on web programming.
What is one resource you could use that would take this to the next level?
Users. We have everything we need to get the site going, but once it’s up we need to market hard to spread the word and grow our user base.
