A team of 5-10 JVM software programmers from across the state will be representing Minnesota at the inaugural Grails48 hackathon next month.
The global community event is designed “to bring the Grails world together igniting innovation with our favorite JVM based tools and platforms.” At least a dozen different cities will be competing to create an application for non-profit organizations to manage their volunteer base.
The local group will be convening at ReachLocal Minneapolis office (11 Fourth Street NE Suite 201, Minneapolis) from Friday, November 9 through Sunday the 11th. A week later, the judging panel will announce winners.
“If you can code in Groovy — or want to get better at it — you’re invited,” says teammate Jake Severson, a software engineer at Thomson Reuters by day and hacker by night.
