KidBlogMinnesota Cup judges have chosen KidBlog as their choice of the three finalists in the general division.

The edutech startup won $25k and beat out e-commerce fashion site Mode-esty who earned the runner up ($5k).

KidBlog is a blogging platform for k-12 students to safely share their voice with a global audience. Founded in 2010, KidBlog has 3.3m top line users (approx. 2m active) across 150k classrooms representing 80% of US school districts.

They’ve fundraised over $500k in convertible debt to date and “will pull the trigger on revenue” within the next 30 days, according to co founder and CEO Matt Hardy.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be the division winner,” Co founder Dan Flies exclaims.  “We’ve had our eyes on this for a few years.”

“That was the most intense judging session I’ve seen in nine years,” said General Division judge Brad Lehrman, speaking to the finalists.

Earlier today, When I Work and CogCubed were recognized as leaders in the equally competitive High Tech division.
