Hidrate’s Smart Water Bottle Crushes Kickstarter Goal in < 24 Hours

Yesterday they launched on Kickstarter and today they are in the clear.

Hidrate has received over $40k in pledges under 24 hours for their smartphone syncing water bottle ‘HydrateMe’.

Company cofounder Nadya Nguyen was confident the campaign would ultimately top the $35k goal, which spans 42 days overall, but the adoption rate has pleasantly surprised her. The backing so far amounts to ~700 pre-orders for the product in addition to some 360 initially claimed directly on site prior to Kickstarter.

The venture is comprised of University of Minnesota graduates that joined at Startup Weekend Twin Cities 6 and were subsequently accepted into Sprint/Techstars accelerator earlier this year.

This trajectory is reminiscent of notable peer hardware crowdfunding starts such as Zivix ($50k <5 hours), Spark ($14k < 90 minutes) and SmartThings ($250k < 1 week).
