MN Startup Developing ICU Monitoring Platform Is Raising $7.5m

viosmedicalVios Medical, makers of a low-cost wireless hardware + software monitoring system for the intensive care unit, are seeking $7.5m with $3.9m captured to date per this SEC filing.

The Vios Monitoring System connects patient-worn sensors and a commercially available pulse oximeter to analyze, display and centralize patient data online in near real-time.

Vios Medical was incorporated in 2012 in St. Paul, Minnesota, and is operated by cofounder and CEO Amit Patel. In 2013, the venture reportedly received about half of a $3m round; Stanford peers Oren Gal and Gary Yang are listed as company investors on AngelList.

The first generation of the Vios Monitoring System has received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance but is not currently available in the United States as of February, 2016. A LinkedIn profile states that the Vios is currently partnering with major hospitals in both the US and India.
