Homi Pulls Another $200k Funding

Homi_gradient_lettermark_600Minneapolis startup Homi has been hustling, as they picked up another $200k in early equity financing on top of the $100k they received earlier this year.

“Homi is a platform designed to build meaningful relationships between students and alumni. Students can ask questions, meet interesting alumni and figure out what they want to do after college. Alumni can reconnect with groups they were involved in at school, hire motivated students and give back in ways other than writing a check.”

This round is led by local angel investor Stacey ‘Spike’ Rickert, Managing Director at Northland Capital Markets and former Managing Director at Piper Jaffray.

Homi’s value proposition and revenue model revolves around efficiently connecting corporate recruiters with college students and they have paying customers.

The latest funding is being applied towards campus expansion efforts going into this school year, as the service is available for students on 10 campuses right now, including: Carleton, Macalester, The University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management, St. Thomas, St. Bens, St. Johns, St. Olaf, UC San Diego, Cal State Fullerton

“87% of corporate recruiters use LinkedIn, but only 40% of college students are actually on LinkedIn,” says Homi cofounder & CEO Philip Xiao. “We’re bridging that gap with Homi.”

Homi has made the local rounds so far in the journey — from Beta Byte to Beta.MN booth, onto the stage at MinneDemo and through the Minnesota Cup semifinals this year.
