What distinct problem does this solve for who and how does this create value for them?
The problem is that there is currently not an easy way for consumers to search, locate and reserve recreational rental equipment online from businesses. Most businesses are using outdated and manual reservation management tools resulting in significant missed revenue opportunities.
Our Recreogo platform provides businesses with a robust tool to help manage their inventory and reservations. In turn, through our platform, consumers can now access the inventory to see what is available and book right online.
How did you come up with the idea / what was your motivation for starting?
The idea originated in 2015 when I had a negative experience searching for snowmobile rentals. I found the process to be outdated, time consuming and exhausting. Since this experience, I have shared my story with many individuals and found that more often than not they had a fairly similar story. I saw a need and I am determined to solve the problem.

We launched our beta 5/1/2017

What is the specific technology or combination of technologies is used?
We built the site on Microsoft Azure using Web Applications and a backing SQL. Database with Application Insights analytics. We used single-page application driven by React and Redux to provide a fast and intuitive browsing experience.
Who is the customer and what is your revenue model?
Our customers are businesses who rent recreational rental products and the consumers who rent these products. Businesses are charged a percentage of each rental booked through our site. Consumers are charged a convenience fee when booking items through our site.
What is the size/scope of your market and how will you scale?
There are over 12K recreational rental businesses, averaging 25 rental items per business. We are initially targeting Wisconsin and Minnesota, where there are approximately 800 businesses. Our goal is to gain a minimum of 5 percent market share and then expand to other markets across the country.
What is your greatest strength?
We are first to market and our model has been proven and successful in other industry segments.
What is your biggest weakness?
We are operating in a double-sided marketplace that has lacked technological advancement.
What is one resource you could use that would take this to the next level?
Capital to bring on a full-time developer, initiate marketing plan, and build a sales infrastructure.
