  • A total of 22 merger/acquisition transactions involving Minnesota-based technology firms was reported January 1 – June 30, 2017. This is on pace to reach ~45 total deals by the end of this year, which would be par with 2016 (45) though down from a peak of 63 deals in 2014.

Takeaways YTD:

+ HighJump Software is the single local tech company to be involved in 2 deals so far in 2017, purchasing RedTail Solutions and Vitech Business Group.

+ The only “startup” involved in M&A so far this year is Gravie, which acquired Medicare broker Breitenfeldt Group

+The only consumer deal was E-commerce site Fetch bought by Chuck and Dons.

+ Only two deals disclosed prices: Questar’s $128m acquisition & Digi’s purchase of SMART Temp for $28-$35m
