The Nerdery’s CEO Tom O’Neill Is Stepping Down

The Nerdery’s CEO Tom O’Neill is stepping down today.

Former CEO and Nerdery board member Mike Derheim distributed an email today indicating that a new, outside leader would be brought in “to help us accelerate our transformation journey.”

O’Neill confirmed the news, though declined to elaborate on anything more at this time; his replacement is not named and “a search process will be led by the board.”

O’Neill, who has been with The Nerdery for 14+ years was promoted from President to CEO in January of 2016, tasked with “breaking out of self-imposed constraints” that followed a series of layoffs in 2015 and came again 2017 as part that change.
