European Software Firm Cludo Opens US Headquarters In Minneapolis

Categories

A software startup originating in Copenhagen, Denmark has moved into the US market and now calls Minneapolis home.

Cludo, which specializes in enterprise search technology, quietly planted it’s flag on Lake Calhoun earlier this year when CEO Philip Andersen moved to the United States.  By now, they employ 10 people locally (and 10 at Denmark HQ), with more hiring in store for Minnesota.

“There’s a lot of hidden gold in the midwest,” Andersen says. “The costs are lower and the loyalty is higher, that’s clear to us by now.”

“…as far as why Minneapolis?  Well, it was between Chicago and Minneapolis… but look at the budget problems in that city…” he continues. “We made the right choice.”

Cludo was actually spun out by the same founders of another European software firm that also maintains quite a large presence in Minneapolis these days. Regular readers will be familiar with web governance SaaS company SiteImprove, which has been making waves here since opening doors here circa 2007, now with approximately 200 local employees.

Turns out that Cludo is backed by the same brothers – Morten and Niels Ebbesen — and has a similar vision of growing up in Minnesota based on their success here over the years. Andersen became the CEO of Cludo in 2015 as it was formalizing and was hired to lead the US team.

“We see the majority of our revenue and hiring in the US going forward,” he asserts.
