It is important we recognize those who financially sponsor TECHdotMN because their direct contribution advances Minnesota’s technology industry.
What does COCO do?
COCO provides shared workspaces for growing businesses – giving small business owners a place to focus on their business and grow their team – without the cost, obligation and distraction of getting a traditional lease.
When/why/how did COCO start?
We started (in early 2010) because people were craving a collaborative alternative to the coffee shop or home office. Today, MN is swimming in coworking, so mission accomplished! Nowadays, many of our early members are now running companies with staff. They want productivity and privacy, so as they’ve grown, we’ve grown in what we offer to keep up.
What is unique about COCO?
We’re the only home-grown option for coworking and suites. It’s hard to find a MN-based startup that hasn’t spent time in one form or another in the COCO community. And with 4 locations in MSP (and one in Chicago), we’re able to provide our members with flexibility in how and where they work.
Why does COCO sponsor TECHdotMN?
We want to find people who are serious about growing their companies and TECHdotMN seems like a great place to find them.
How does COCO believe Minnesota’s tech industry could improve?
We don’t have a strong opinion about the broader tech scene, policies, etc. We’re more focused on what individuals can do to improve themselves. And in nearly 7 years, if we’ve seen one thing consistently is that every business owner knows their own domain, but often needs support in other areas like marketing, sales, legal, operations and finances.
So, the best thing you can do as an owner is to surround yourself with people who have the knowledge and experience you don’t. So, if you’re a tech founder, don’t just talk to tech founders. Get out there and mix it up with non-techies. That’s been the operating principle behind COCO since day one. You benefit from being around a diverse array of people and practitioners. Ecosystems – from coral reefs to startup scenes – thrive on diversity.
