What is the name of the company and/or product?
What distinct problem does this solve for who and how does this create value for them?
The problem is that it can be hard to find daycare depending on where you are. There is not always enough supply for the demand, especially for infant care.
We have two audiences: parents seeking daycare for their children and providers seeking to match with parents and their children.
It creates value for the parents by expediting the discovery and matching process for them. It creates value for the providers by allowing them to create a professional profile and indicate availability to attract in more customers.
How did you come up with the idea / what was your motivation for starting?
We have kids ourselves and know how challenging it can be firsthand. But our aha moment was talking with our family members who had to put their two kids in two separate daycares for a year because there were no options for them to both be in the same one due to capacity constraints.

We’re aiming for Q1 2018

What is the specific technology or combination of technologies is used?
Our landing page right now is built on LocomotiveCMS and we are working with a development partner on the actual software.
Who is the customer and what is your revenue model?
The daycare providers will pay monthly or annual subscription based on their listing features. We are considering ways to also have the parents pay for certain usage or benefits.
What is the size/scope of your market and how will you scale?
In 2016 there were about 9,500 in home day cares across the state of Minnesota, which is what we are focused on first. There are another 1,500 or so daycare centers in the state as well. We want to kick it off and prove ourselves here on the home turf before we consider expansion.
What is your greatest strength?
Excitement! This is fun and challenging at the same time…we’re driven by a passion.
What is your biggest weakness?
Gaining visibility from daycare providers. It’s proven to be challenging to find out where daycare providers hang out. Otherwise, our plan is to get face to face to spread the word any way that we can.
What is one resource you could use that would take this to the next level?

This is coming from a place of wanting to help parents, so they can have an easier way of finding daycare for their kids.
