Minnesota music tech startup SparkDJ has completed three months of immersion inside the Techstars Music accelerator program, taken their product B2B, and raised $300k of a $500k convertible round.
“We evolved a lot during Techstars,” cofounder and CEO James Jones Jr. says. “We were originally building a consumer focused AI DJ app, now we’re building an interactive in-venue entertainment platform focused on creating value for businesses by increasing customer engagement through new entertainment solutions.”

“Businesses are able to drive traffic to their locations, gather customer data, and create an awesome fun experience in their venue because of Spark DJ. Our vision is to drive value globally for any consumer-focused business through interactive entertainment,” he continues.
SparkDJ has acquired local paying customers which include 508 bar, LuMINN Hotel, Little Six Casino, The Loop, and La Vetta — with a full launch expected this fall in Minnesota.
The two year old company is one of about twenty active local tech companies that operate in the music industry.
