Minneapolis headquartered business intelligence company, DTN, announced an expansion yesterday with the acquisition of Weatherzone, Australia’s leading provider of consumer and business weather information, from Nine Entertainment (ASX:NEC).

“Today we are excited to bring Weatherzone to DTN and expand our business in Australia,” said Steve Matthesen, DTN CEO. “Weatherzone has a great team, dedicated to serving consumers and clients with the best weather information and insights available. We look forward to working together and leveraging our global technology to continue driving success for our customers. This gives us a truly global footprint across the Americas, Europe, and Asia/Pacific.”

The company has clients in several industries including aviation, mining, energy, and utilities who rely on real-time weather information to run efficiently and keep employees safe. Mark Hardy, Weatherzone’s founder and board member, will rejoin DTN as a Managing Director.

“The team at Weatherzone is excited about the opportunity to leverage global technologies and increased investment in weather solutions,” said Hardy. “Working together with DTN will only strengthen both of our organizations and bring together the best weather insights and information available around the world.”
