Minneapolis headquartered business intelligence company, DTN, announced an expansion yesterday with the acquisition of Weatherzone, Australia’s leading provider of consumer and business weather information, from Nine Entertainment (ASX:NEC).

“Today we are excited to bring Weatherzone to DTN and expand our business in Australia,” said Steve Matthesen, DTN CEO. “Weatherzone has a great team, dedicated to serving consumers and clients with the best weather information and insights available. This gives us a truly global footprint across the Americas, Europe, and Asia/Pacific.”

Founded in 1998, Weatherzone is Australia’s best-known weather brand, providing both consumers and businesses with industry-leading weather insights. The company has clients in several industries including aviation, mining, energy, and utilities who rely on real-time weather information to run efficiently and keep employees safe. Mark Hardy, Weatherzone’s founder and board member, will rejoin DTN as a Managing Director.
