BETA Startup Showcase: Rover Robotics

BETA Startup: Rover Robotics LogoThe TECHdotMN team would like to introduce you to each of the startups featured in the upcoming BETA showcase. Over the next couple of weeks, we will highlight each company, so you can get a better idea of the talent, hardwork, and dedication held within each of these startups.

The next company in our BETA Startup Showcase series is: Rover Robotics

Rover Robotics sells affordable, industrial-grade robots that are ROS enabled. Perfect for research application or for industrial use.

Tell us the story of how and why you started your company.
Rover Robotics was founded in 2018 when Adam Getting’s (Formerly with RoboteX) met Nick Fragale (of Digi Labs) who at the time was creating a lawn care robot and struggling to create an environmental proof robot. Adams previous company RoboteX make an environmental proof robot called the Avatar III, which is sold exclusively into the Police, Military and first responder markets. Nick quickly made a driver to make the Avatar III compatible with ROS, the most popular Open Source robot software ecosystem that is taught by every University doing robotics worldwide. Both Nick and Adam thought the combination of the Avatar III and ROS could be incredibly useful for other robotics startups and researchers and so Open Avatar Inc. DBA Rover Robotics was founded as a joint venture between RoboteX and Digi Labs.

Where do you see your startup in 1 year?
We are expanding our product line to include a cheaper model (>$2,000) for educators (which is already designed), and a more expensive model for those looking for a turnkey solution.
