The tech.mn Live Podcast Booth: Day 2

Twin Cities Startup Week 2020 is in full swing, and The tech.mn Live Podcast Booth is firing up for tomorrow’s stream! For Thursday, September 17’s edition of the event, we’re welcoming three more awesome guests.

Hosted by Alex Skjong, the show will be welcoming audio and video creators for a little host-to-host action. We want to highlight the highlighters; the folks in our community who are creating high-quality podcast content across all the entire spectrum of Minnesota.

Omni Talk

Hosts: Anne Mezzenga, Chris Walton

Chris Walton started Red Archer Retail with his partner Anne Mezzenga in 2017. He and Anne are 50/50 partners in their efforts. Combined they have roughly 40 years of experience in retail and marketing. Chris has held high level positions across nearly every area within retail, and Anne and Chris first began working together, when Chris was the Vice President of Target’s Store of the Future project, and Anne was the project’s Director of Marketing and Program Operations.

Since leaving Target, they started their own content business, which they run under the blog and brand Omni Talk, where they compose articles, videos, and podcasts about the future of retail. Chris is a Senior Contributor for Forbes and his work is read by as many as 2 million people each month on Forbes and across other retail outlets, like the Robin Report and Retail Dive as well. Chris and Anne have keynoted and moderated discussions on stage at numerous retail conferences, like Shoptalk, NRF, NACS, and FMI, and they are also the Co-CEOs of Third Haus, a retail technology lab in Minneapolis.

Their podcasts, when disseminated across iTunes, Spotify, SoundCloud, and Google, generate roughly 2,000 to 3,000 listens per week and rank them consistently as one of the most listened to retail podcasts within the industry.

Women in Tech Twin Cities

Hosts: Anna Bliss, Jessica Meyer

Anna Bliss is a Product Manager, podcaster, and community leader. Anna has worked in the tech arena for over 15 years in a variety of roles including technical writing and business analysis prior to moving into product management. A liberal arts major at heart, Anna loves the interdisciplinary nature of the technology world. She is co-founder of the Twin Cities Product Community and co-host of the Women in Tech Twin Cities podcast and co-founded the Women in Tech group where she works.

Jessica Meyer is a Principle Data Scientist, educator, and podcaster. She has spent the last seven years working in technology marrying data analysis, statistics and machine learning to software engineering. Jessica also holds a part-time appointment as an Adjunct Associate at Columbia University assisting students in the School of Professional Studies Analytics Graduate Program. She co-hosts the Women in Tech Twin Cities podcast and co-leads a mentoring program for a Women in Data Science and Analytics group at her work.

Building Minnesota RØKKR Podcast

Host: Ashley “MiDNiTE” Glassel

In August 2019, Ashley Glassel started working with Minnesota RØKKR as a consultant during the building of the franchise’s roster. That October, she was named the Director of Content and continues to help build and grow the brand via content and vision. She is also the co-host of the Building Minnesota Røkkr Podcast.

Glassel, known by her gamertag as “MiDNiTE,” possesses 10 years worth of experience as an influencer in the Call of Duty/esports space. Glassel is considered an original core member of OpTic Gaming, helping to build the organization’s legacy from 2010-2019.

Initially brought on to play for OpTic Girls, Glassel was kept on to be a content creator for the OpTic Gaming. During her tenure, she helped represent and grow the OpTic brand, whether it was through her own streams and videos, or being involved in the native OpTic Content and sponsor deliverables.

Alex oversees the content produced for BETA, Twin Cities Startup Week, and tech.mn. When he’s not writing or editing, there’s a good chance he’s enjoying a refreshing brew and explaining the merits of heavy metal (of which there are many).
