Post-it Note App Wins Google Material Design Award

The humble Post-it Note — aka the greatest contribution to humankind office supplies Minnesota has ever produced — just got even cooler. The Post-it Note App has won the Material Design Award from Google.

tech.mn“We are excited to hear the Post-it App has been recognized as a best in class example by Google,” Heather Green, Vice President of Post-it Brand, said in a release. “Post-it Notes have been an ideation choice of teams for over 40 years and the app’s capture functionality makes Post-it Notes storable, shareable and accessible in digital spaces. Our app is an example of our continued dedication to innovation.”

The Post-it Note app took home the award in the Motion category, which recognizes digital products that, “come to life through elegant animations, making the complex feel simple through dynamic and personal experiences.” As someone who has downloaded the app, written my name on a digital Post-it Note, and then watched as it digitally crumpled into a wad before getting into the trash, it definitely felt deeply personal.

Another fun bit — the release specifically calls out the app’s use of “colors, typography and custom-branded pill-shaped buttons to elevate the user experience.” As a writer, I can assure you I absolutely, immediately, instantly appreciated the “custom-branded pill-shaped buttons.” Totally.

But seriously, it seems like a fun app (although I’m not sure it does anything drastically different from other collaborative note apps), and it’s always good to have a Minnesota-born product get some props.
