The CFO: Jamison Rice, ABILITY Network

When and how did you get started in your finance career?

I started in finance in public accounting at Arthur Anderson in the early 1990s. It was a great way to get exposure to a lot of different industries and companies. I was able jump into my career, learning from really talented people within public accounting, as well strong leaders at a number of different client companies. I continue to grow in my profession by surrounding myself with talented people. It’s one of the reasons I joined ABILITY Network.

What is unique about your role with the technology industry, compared to other industries?

The speed of change within technology is greater than most industries. That dynamic increases exponentially when you couple it with the rate of change within the healthcare industry. My role, and that of my team, is focused on enabling business leaders to make informed decisions about our business−quickly. As part of a leading healthcare information technology company, we simply can’t afford a “wait-and- see” approach.

The CFO: Greg Wallace, When I Work

When and how did you get started in your finance career, specifically within the tech industry?

I was fortunate to land a finance role right out of college in 2006 with HighJump Software, which was a local software company at the time. It was a great opportunity and provided me with a lot of career growth and enthusiasm of the tech industry over the 8 years I was there.

After leaving in 2014, I made a decision that I wanted to stay in the Tech Industry; I was fortunate to be considered and ultimately hired at When I Work.

When did you start your finance career and within the tech industry?

My first finance role after graduating from college in Denver was with Ernst & Young in 1993. My goal just was to get some public accounting and CPA out of the way but just one year into that I met some people working on SurVivaLink that was seed funded by Medtronic.

I joined as a controller, employee number 10, which was my introduction to the technology industry.  In 2013, I left medical device and started doing contract CFO work with AVL Partners, now known as GO Intellectual Capital.

The CFO: Jenny Kray, Calabrio

When and how did you get started in your finance career, specifically within the technology industry?

I started my career in public accounting with KPMG Minneapolis in 1996. I left KPMG in 2000 after responding to a job ad in the Star Tribune for an Accounting Manager role at Microgistix, a software marketing company in the Warehouse District.

Then, in 2002, a former manager from KPMG reached out to me about an Accounting Manager role at Secure Computing Corporation, a network security company where I ended up working for almost seven years. In that seven-year period, I was a part of three acquisitions until we were acquired by McAfee in 2008.

At that point, I knew I had found my niche and wasn’t going to consider leaving the tech space.
